Why an employer would commission this

The benefit is not simply “offering counselling”. It is giving employees a usable route into help earlier.

When somebody is struggling, the employer may see the effects before they see the cause: reduced focus, irritability, withdrawal, more mistakes, absence, lower confidence or a manager spending increasing time trying to support something they are not equipped to resolve.

Earlier interventionEmployees can access support while they are still at work rather than waiting until the problem becomes more severe.
Less pressure on line managersManagers can remain supportive without becoming the employee's therapist or sole source of emotional support.
Improved focus and confidenceThe work targets the patterns that can interfere with concentration, decision-making, communication and self-belief.
A confidential route people may actually useSome employees are more willing to speak openly when the conversation sits outside their management chain.

Support is individual rather than generic.

01

Stress & persistent worry

Helping the employee understand the pattern behind ongoing pressure and develop more effective responses.

02

Anxiety & overthinking

Working with repetitive thinking, anticipatory worry and emotional responses that make it difficult to switch off.

03

Confidence & resilience

Helping the employee respond differently to setbacks, uncertainty and situations that have reduced confidence.

04

Personal pressures affecting work

Creating a professional space for life circumstances that may be influencing attendance, focus or emotional capacity.

05

Emotional overwhelm

Reducing the sense of being mentally overloaded and helping the employee regain a clearer, more manageable response.

06

Practical next steps

Sessions are intended to move beyond talking alone and help the employee make useful changes between appointments.

Why targeted support matters

Employers are acting on stress — but many still question whether their approach works.

1:1
individualised support

This service addresses the employee's actual problem rather than giving everybody the same intervention.

How access works

Low-friction for the employee. Controlled for the organisation.

Where self-booking is selected, employees choose an available appointment directly. Remote sessions are delivered by Google Meet, with daytime and selected evening availability; the latest remote appointment starts at 7:45pm. Employees book one appointment at a time, with a maximum of one appointment per week.

1

Organisation agrees access
Eligibility, capacity and overall provision are set in advance.

2

Employee books directly
Reducing unnecessary management involvement in each appointment.

3

Session content remains private
Subject to agreed safeguarding, serious-risk and legal exceptions.

A distinct, private space can make it easier for an employee to talk honestly about what is affecting them.
What this is not

It does not replace medical, psychiatric or emergency care.

The service is non-clinical and is designed to complement HR, Occupational Health, EAP and appropriate healthcare pathways. Where somebody requires specialist clinical or emergency support, the appropriate route should be used.
